Oracle Tips by Burleson |
Introduction to the Basics
The installation and configuration is probably not
going to be the most popular part of any book as most readers would
much rather get to the development part of the book. However, for
anyone not having access to an installation of HTML DB, this section
should get one up and running in about two hours, depending on
download speeds. If HTML DB is already installed somewhere, this
section can be skipped and used as reference at a later date when it
is needed.
An alternative to spending time on the
installation is to go to
http://htmldb.oracle.com and request a workspace.
This is an Oracle hosted and maintained
development environment for the public.
The instruction in the first three chapters is
meant to get you up and running as quickly as possible with some
explanation of what is being installed. It is not meant to be an
in-depth reference. The Oracle online documentation can be referenced
for more information.
