Maintain
Consistent and Fair Discipline Policies
There have been many instances in which an IT
employee who has been fired and believes that he or she has been
unfairly treated or treated differently from other employees in
similar situations, will act out their frustrations with threats or
violent acts. This reaction occurs quite often, even if the fired
employee knows the termination was justified in the first place. Many
feel they have been hurt by the system and want to take control of how
events play out. All employees in an IT organization should be treated
equally and properly under all employment circumstances, whether good
or bad. The employer has a responsibility to release troublesome
employees, but they also have a duty to treat their employees with
equality and fairness.
FAST FACT
Homicide is the second
leading cause of death on the job, second only to motor vehicle
crashes.
