Prohibit Unsupervised Movement
Throughout Company Facilities
Any person who is not currently an employee of the
company should not be allowed to move freely about on company
premises. If an individual does not hold a current employee badge,
then they should be required to obtain a company escort who authorizes
and supervises their movements on company property.
Security personnel who are responsible for
maintaining the security
of company facility entrances must be aware of this policy and
strictly enforce it. Employees of many companies have found facility
access security very weakly enforced to the point that it becomes a
joke when visitors enter and exit company property. Too often entrance
alerts are alarming and because the employee’s (or former employee’s)
face is familiar to the guard, he or she continues walking onto the
premises. Electronic security doors with card readers for employee
badges are the best remedy for this situation.
FAST FACT
The majority of
workplace homicides that occur are believed to be among people who
do not know each other.
