The Data Warehouse Team 
Unlike a traditional systems development project, planning for a data warehouse project involves a very different type of staff, including programmers from each legacy data source and managers who understand the architectures of each database supplying input to the data warehouse. Very specific sets of skills are often required for the development of any Oracle warehouse project, and these skills are simple to identify, even before the minute details are fleshed out. In general, a data warehouse team uses a matrix organization. In a matrix organization, data warehouse team members are given data warehouse development assignments while they continue to report to their traditional line managers. In other words, managers continue to maintain authority over their personnel, while the data warehouse project manager holds authority over the data warehouse project, using data warehouse team members only within their capacity for the development effort (see Figure 2.3).
